Irish podcasting's big night has been pushed back. The All-Ireland Podcast Awards, which were due to take place on 11 November at The Woodlands Hotel in Adare, Co. Limerick, as part of the Sound.Waves summit, will now be held on 27 and 28 January 2027 at the same venue.
The organisers announced the change on 3 November, citing the planned public sector strike, which affects a number of speakers, partners and attendees. Tickets remain valid for the new dates, and anyone who can't make it can request a full refund.
What happens to the nominees?
Nothing changes for the shortlisted shows. All nominees remain in contention, and the final round of judging goes ahead as planned with the original panel. The only difference is that the winners will be revealed in January instead of next week.
A bigger second year
This is only the second edition of the awards, but they have grown quickly. More than 200 podcasts were entered this year across 12 categories, and six new categories have been added: Culture, Specialist, Branded, the Interview Series Award and Audio Publisher of the Year, while Audio Drama and Documentary are now judged separately. Acast is sponsoring both Podcast of the Year and the Current Affairs & Politics award.
The shortlists mix household names with smaller independent shows. Ryan Tubridy, Síle Seoige and chef Mark Moriarty are among the finalists in the Interview Series category, and in Sport the GAA comedy podcast Mayo Are Back goes up against Off The Ball's The Football Pod and Indo Sport.
Shortlisted podcasts to catch up on
With an extra couple of months before the winners are announced, there's plenty of time to get to know the contenders. Here are some of the shortlisted shows you can listen to right now.
