You can find tips to improve your gaming skills, learn about new releases, and learn about the views of others on particular games.

So, how can I help you with this? I am providing some of Ireland's best must-listen gaming podcasts in 2024 for you to listen to!

Press Any Button to Continue

ny avid gamer can relate to the title of this podcast. 'Press Any Button to Continue' is up there with 'Game Over' when it comes to the most iconic of retro video game phrases. Retro is the word here, too, as this podcast is hosted by two friends who love nothing more than speaking about the earlier days of gaming. Keith and Naoise talk about their childhood when they'd spend every waking hour playing their favourite games.

Other topics covered include the best retro games, the best earlier consoles, and more. The duo have been dropping podcasts since the middle of 2022 and now release a new episode every week. On average, the episodes, which you can find on Spotify and Apple, last for approximately 75 minutes.

The Irish Poker Podcast

It's not only video games that fall under the gaming category, as casino games such as slots and poker also qualify. It's the latter under discussion via the popular Irish Poker Tour Podcast, which, as you've probably surmised, follows the Irish Poker Tour.

You'll join Donal, Ferdia, and Fintan among other hosts as they follow each leg of the tour. Whether news, opinion, interviews or anything related to poker across Ireland and Europe, this is the podcast to subscribe to.

You can catch the Irish Poker Tour Podcast on Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple.

The Bone Idle Gaming Podcast

It's a bit of a stereotype, but I think most of us gamers growing up were labelled as bone idle, whether by our parents or teachers. The guys on The Bone Idle Gaming Podcast somewhat play up to this stereotype, but if you've listened to them, they freely admit their life is purely about gaming.

Established in 2009, this podcast primarily focuses on providing short but informative game reviews. That makes the episodes stand out, as they're quick bursts of information provided in under ten minutes. The hosts waste no time airing their views of everything that is hot, not, or somewhere in between. Recently reviewed games include the excellent God of War Ragnarok and Rainbow Extraction console games.

Gambling With an Edge

If you prefer playing games that could make you some money along the way, then you're going to want podcasts focused on casino games. One of the very best available is the Gambling With an Edge Podcast, a show that's just recently celebrated its fourth birthday.

The premise is simple, the hosts, Bob Dancer and Richard Munchkin strive to turn listeners into better gamblers. Aside from a podcast that allows the two to share their expertise and insights, there is a website and forum where listeners can become a part of one big gambling community.

The main focus of the podcasts is traditional casino games, which include roulette, blackjack, and all the other usual suspects. You can pick up all the tips and tricks that these professional gamblers have picked up over the years, and any pitfalls to avoid. To date, the pair has released 197 episodes, and usually, there are at least two or three drops every month.

You can find the Gambling With an Edge Podcast on all major audio streaming sites, including Spotify and SoundCloud.

The Adventuring Party

The Adventuring Party, or TAP as it likes to be known, is a relatively new Irish gaming podcast gaining new listeners daily. Liam, Oisin, Ian, Cathal, and Sean are the hosts who drop fresh gaming content weekly on Wednesdays and have been doing so since the end of 2023.

While game reviews are something the hosts cover, the podcasts usually delve into deeper topics around the gaming industry. They discuss the state of the industry, whether it could be better, and what they'd like to see rather than what they're getting. Now, if you're into first-person shooters or more mainstream titles, be warned that this podcast might not be for you. The Adventuring Party team prefers RPGs and card games over anything else.

Hey! Look! Listen!

Admit it, the title of the podcast alone makes you want to hear what these guys have to say! In truth, you really should give the show a try, especially if you're in Ireland and love some gaming.

Why? Hey! Look! Listen! is one of the most popular gaming-related pods in the country right now and that popularity grows every week. Since early 2021, Kev O'Carroll, Jonathan Morrissey, Owen O'Riordan and Liam Sheahan have recorded 86 episodes, with at least one coming monthly.

As for the content, you can expect more general gaming stuff, such as reviews, discussions about game developers and game awards, and everything else from the industry. You'll even come across light-hearted topics such as the best foods when gaming, the best endings ranked, and their favourite bosses. As you can see, it's not just reviews but healthy discussion about all things Irish gaming.

If this sounds like a podcast you could get into, make sure you check it out on Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube.
