Episode 8 with solo mum Kerry White of Kerry Wellbeing

In this bonus episode, I speak to Kerry White who is a woman of many hats and many talents! She is a wellbeing facilitator, yoga teacher, shiatsu therapist and more recently a solo mum by choice to 3-year old Freya and a motherhood clarity coach.

Like other episodes, we cover Kerry's original career ambitions as a teen to get into health. Her love of travel led her to Paris in her twenties and then the WHO in her thirties. She finally set up her own wellbeing business back in Ireland using all the mind-body techniques she learnt along the way.

However, reaching her personal ambitions was more difficult and the focus of this episode is on Kerry's 10-year path to become a solo mother by choice. This was not an easy journey or decision but she got there aged 47 and had her daughter 2 months before her 50th birthday.

Although choosing this path to parenthood is becoming slightly more common than before, Kerry had some additional considerations. Not only did she choose go it alone using a sperm donor but she did it just before the age cut-off point of 49 and also using donor eggs (double donor).

We talk about all the pivotal moments in her thirties and forties leading up to the decision and all the tools that helped her along the way. We also discuss support and other people's reactions as well as the reality of being a solo mum, the best bits and the challenges and Kerry's plans for the future.

There is a lesson for us all in that life doesn't necessarily happen in the timings and order we expect it to but we can still go after and reach our dreams in unexpected ways!
