Today's poem is "Gypsy", by Bo Burnham.
Bo Burnham is an American comedian, songwriter, musician, film-maker and actor. He was one of the first YouTube stars in the late 2000s and has released a series of comedy specials, including Inside, his take on the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns, which was released by Netflix in 2021.
This poem is from his 2013 book Egghead, or You Can’t Survive on Ideas Alone. His poetry has been compared to that of Spike Milligan and John Lennon.
Burnham says his poems owe a lot to the Internet, being a product of the Twitter generation of fragmented attention spans, constant overstimulation, distractedness and disconnection.
