Dr. Martin Naughton is Founder of the Glen Dimplex Group and Chairman of the Glen Dimplex Supervisory Board. He studied Mechanical & Production Engineering in Southampton, England and worked as an Industrial Engineer and Plant Manager for 12 years. In 1973, he founded the private, family-owned Glen Dimplex. Glen Dimplex now has 23 manufacturing plants worldwide.

Martin is also a philanthropist with his wife Carmel and the Naughton family. In 1994, Martin and Carmel founded the private family foundation, “The Naughton Foundation.”

Martin has received honorary degrees from Trinity College, University of Notre Dame, University College Dublin, Queen’s University, Ulster University, Coleraine and Griffith College Dublin. He is a trustee emeritus of the University of Notre Dame.  For seven years, he served as a member of the Irish Council of State and is past Chairman of Intertrade Ireland. Martin is on the Advisory Board of Citi Private Bank for Europe, Africa and in the Middle East. He is a member of the Provost’s Council, is a Knight of the British Empire (K.B.E) and was awarded the French Légion d’Honneur by the French government.

The Trinity Student Managed Fund (Trinity SMF) Podcast is for anyone interested in finance, business or technology. On the podcast Emanuele Roncalli di Montorio-Veronese interviews leaders in these areas to give students an insight into careers they may wish to pursue.

The Trinity SMF was founded in November 2010 and currently has a membership base of over 1,800 students. It set a precedent in Europe as the first student managed fund in the region. When the fund was founded in 2010, it had €30,000 AUM, in the years since, we have seen the fund grow to over €500,000 AUM.
